Third Grade Homework
The district homework policy states that 3rd graders shall be responsible for homework activities that can be completed in 30 minutes each school day. This includes 15 minutes of independent reading. Several special projects and book reports will be sent home at different times of the year. You will receive specific instructions for these projects and plenty of time to complete them.
Children are expected to read for about 20 minutes each night. Students may read silently or aloud with a partner or parent. Please record the title of the book and minutes read on the 400 Minute Club. and return at the end of each month. 400 minutes of reading a month is the target goal for each 3rd grader. According to many educational studies, nightly reading is a major factor in students’ academic success.
Homework will be assigned weekly and and transported to and from school in a homework folder. All homework assignments are due at the end of the week. Homework assignments are skills or concepts that have been covered in class. If your child is having difficulty with an assignment, I encourage you to lend a hand. When your child finishes homework, please take a moment to look it over and guide your child in correcting errors.
Thank you for helping your child develop good study habits and the initiative to become a lifelong learner.
I appreciate your support!
