It's time to become...Master Multipliers!!
We will be exploring the concept of multiplication over the next couple of months. We will also be applying it to our everyday lives. The state standards require students to memorize their multiplication facts.(0 -10) In order to achieve this goal, students will need consistent practice at home. It takes A LOT of time and commitment at home. Please practice nightly. Since students know their twos and fives already, they can begin with their threes and fours and proceed up to ten.
Here is a recommended schedule:
October – Memorize your twos, fives, and tens
November/December– Memorize your threes and fours
January/February– Memorize your sixes and sevens
March - Memorize your eights and nines
(If your 1-10 facts are mastered, congratulations!
And, please memorize your elevens and twelves!)
Flash cards are a great way to memorize the times tables. You can take them anywhere. Also, you can use a regular deck of cards to practice facts. In the game of WAR, display two cards at a time from each player. Multiply the value of the two cards to determine who wins the round.
There are also TONS of great websites that you can explore. Here is a list of some wonderful sites that will make your challenge enjoyable.
